S.V. Muralidhar Rao Succeeds Dindayal Jalan As Independent Director Of Vedanta

S.V. Muralidhar Rao has been appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) of Vedanta Limited, effective April 1, 2026, subject to approval of the shareholders. He succeeds Dindayal Jalan, who has retired upon completion of his tenure, with effect from March 31, 2026.

Rao joined the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in 1992 and became Executive Director in 2012, serving until his retirement in January 2025. During his tenure, he worked across departments including corporation finance, market regulation, intermediaries supervision, and investment management. He currently serves as an Independent Director at Invesco Trustee Pvt. Ltd. and is associated with the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. He is also a senior consultant with Khaitan & Co. He contributed to policy measures in mutual funds, disclosure norms, and listing timelines. He has over three decades of experience in regulating and developing India’s securities market. Rao holds degrees in commerce and business administration.
