RBI Approves Amitabh Chaudhry’s Reappointment As MD & CEO Of Axis Bank, Ganesh Sankaran Resigns

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the reappointment of Amitabh Chaudhry as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Axis Bank Limited for an additional three years, effective January 1, 2025.

Before joining Axis Bank, Chaudhry served as the CEO of HDFC Life. He began his career at Bank of America, where he held various roles, including Head of Technology Investment Banking for Asia, Regional Finance Head for Wholesale Banking, and CFO (India). After 16 years in banking, he became part of the founding leadership team at Infosys BPM in 2003 and managed the Validation Services portfolio there. Since 2019, he has chaired the FICCI National Committee and has received numerous awards and honours. Chaudhry holds an engineering degree from BITS Pilani and a postgraduate in business management from IIM Ahmedabad.

In a separate development, Ganesh Sankaran, Group Executive, Wholesale Banking Coverage Group, has decided to pursue opportunities outside the bank and resigned from his role on October 23, 2024. He will be relieved of his duties on November 30, 2024.
