Ravi Ranjan Set To Succeed Vinay Tonse As Managing Director Of SBI

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) announced that it has recommended Ravi Ranjan, currently Deputy Managing Director, as the next Managing Director (MD) of State Bank of India (SBI).

Ranjan would succeed Vinay M. Tonse, whose term ends on November 30, 2025.

Ranjan has over 33 years of banking experience and is currently heading global markets and managing an investment portfolio of over Rs 16.5 trillion at SBI. He began his career as a Probationary Officer with SBI in 1991 and has since held key positions in India and overseas. He previously headed the Corporate Accounts Group with Rs 6.68 trillion portfolio, served as Chief General Manager of the Chennai Circle overseeing 1,259 branches, and was President & COO of SBICAP Securities. His earlier roles include leading Bangalore Circle, managing equity investments, and handling syndications in Hong Kong. Ranjan holds an MBA from MDI Gurugram, an M.Sc. in Botany from Patna University, and is a CAIIB-certified banker.
