OSHA And Amazon Settle Safety Violation Case, Fines Imposed
Amazon has reached a corporate-wide settlement with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to address allegations of workplace safety violations at 10 warehouses.
OSHA agreed to withdraw citations at nine warehouses, while Amazon will pay a USD 145,000 fine for violations at a facility in Illinois handling bulky items. The settlement requires Amazon to regularly assess injury risks nationwide and implement pilot programs to address them.
Amazon stated that it will continue its safety programs and comply with the settlement terms. The company emphasised its progress in reducing injury rates since 2019. The settlement does not affect an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice into Amazon’s injury reporting practices.
