OP Bhatt replaces Basab Pradhan as Chairperson of Coforge

Basab Pradhan, Independent Director and Chairperson of the Board of Coforge Limited, has completed his term on June 28, 2024. Om Prakash Bhatt will take over as Chairperson of the Board with immediate effect.

O.P. Bhatt, 70, is the former Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI). Over his 37-year career at SBI, he undertook numerous national and international assignments, successfully guiding the bank through challenging periods by leveraging and enhancing its strengths. He was recognised as ‘Banker of the Year’ by Business Standard and received the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year award for business in 2007. He also served as Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association and played a crucial role in India’s economic diplomacy as a member of the Indo-US, Indo-Russia, and Indo-French CEO’s Forum. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in English literature.

Basab Pradhan has had a successful career spanning IT services, technology, and consumer marketing. He started his career with Hindustan Unilever in India in consumer marketing. Subsequently, he spent most of his career at Infosys Ltd., where he was Head of Global Sales & Marketing for the last 5 years of his tenure. From 2002 to 2005, he reorganised and led the transformation of the company’s sales and go-to-market as it maintained its industry-leading growth and margins. His book on the Indian IT services industry was published in 2012 by Penguin Random House. Mr. Pradhan is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
