OnePlus India Audit Raises Concerns Over IT Practices & Compliance

An audit of OnePlus Technology India has flagged the use of accounting software hosted on servers outside India and program codes in a foreign language, which restricted audit testing.

The company, a subsidiary of OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd, maintained accounting data on servers operated by Guangdong OPPO in China. The audit also noted delays in employee provident fund payments for FY 2023–24 and pending corporate tax assessments for AY 2021–22. OnePlus has stated that it is updating its IT systems and has initiated steps to resolve outstanding compliance issues. The company faces ongoing scrutiny from Indian regulatory authorities, including the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department. Internal and statutory audit roles are held by Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and Shah & Jain, respectively.
