Niraj Shah has been promoted to Executive Director and CFO at HDFC Life

Niraj Shah has been appointed as an Additional Whole-time Director (designated as Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer) at HDFC Life, one of India’s top life insurers, effective April 26, 2023, for a term of three years, subject to Shareholders’ approval. The Nomination and Remuneration Committee recommended his appointment, which was approved by the Board of Directors. Since February 2019, Niraj has held the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at HDFC Life, where he is in charge of managing Finance, Product Development, and Process Excellence. With over 20 years of experience in financial services, including life insurance, corporate finance advisory, and audit, he has previously worked for PNB MetLife, ICICI Prudential Life, EY, and BNP Paribas. He is also a non-executive Director of HDFC Pension Management Company Limited. Niraj is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. HDFC Life’s MD & CEO, Vibha Padalkar, expressed her pleasure at the appointment, saying that Niraj has been an essential part of their Executive Committee and that his financial expertise and dedication to the company’s vision have been instrumental in achieving HDFC Life’s business objectives. She is optimistic that Niraj’s experience and skills will help expedite their mission of closing the protection gap in India and creating value for all stakeholders.
