Naveen Jindal To Assume Non-Executive Chairman’s Role At Jindal Steel Next Month
Naveen Jindal, who is currently the Chairman and Executive Director of Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) will complete his role on September 30, 2023, and from October 1, 2023, he will remain on the Board as the Non-Executive Chairman.
Under Jindal’s leadership at JSPL, each of the businesses of the company is focused on building world-class capabilities to make India self-reliant. He has transformed JSPL into a conglomerate with a presence across Africa, Oman and Australia. In 2016, he was named Industry Communicator of the Year by the World Steel Association and recognized by Fortune magazine as one of Asia’s top 25 business leaders. He led JSPL to be the world’s highest wealth creator from 2005 to 2009, according to the Boston Consulting Group. He received Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2010. In addition to his business success, Jindal made a significant impact in India’s public arena. He heads the Flag Foundation of India, which played a key role in allowing Indians to display the national flag year-round. As a Parliamentarian for a decade, he contributed to public service. He’s also the founding Chancellor of O P Jindal Global University, India’s top private university according to QS World University Rankings 2021.
He completed his MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) in 1992, and in recognition of his exceptional entrepreneurship and contributions to society, the UTD School of Management was named the Naveen Jindal School of Management. This recognition has led to the establishment of the Naveen Jindal Institute for Indo-American Business Studies.
