Murali Ramakrishnan Appointed Independent Director at RBL Bank
The Board of Directors of RBL Bank Limited has approved the appointment of Murali Ramakrishnan as an (Additional) Non-Executive Independent Director with effect from April 11, 2024, for 4 years. Subject to the approval of the shareholders of the bank.
Murali Ramakrishnan is the former MD and CEO of South Indian Bank. In all, he has 37 years of experience in the banking and financial services sectors. He joined South Indian Bank as an Advisor on July 1, 2020, and was appointed as MD and CEO of the bank on October 1, 2020. Prior to that, he was associated with ICICI Bank for more than two decades, where he headed various business and control functions. During the period from March 2012 to August 2016, he was the Head of North Asia, Sri Lanka, the Middle East, and Africa at ICICI Bank. He is a chemical engineering graduate and holds a postgraduate diploma in finance and marketing from IIM, Bangalore.
The Board also approved the reappointment of Deepak Kumar as the Chief Risk Officer of the Bank for a further period of one year, with effect from May 1, 2024. Kumar is the Chief Risk Officer at RBL Bank. He is an experienced banker. He has over 40 years of experience in the banking industry. He is proficient in all aspects of banking, given his long stint across the country in various roles during his long career with SBI. He has held leadership roles in corporate and MSME lending, stress resolution, retail and branch banking, risk management (including operations risk and Infosec risk), credit policy, and green and sustainable renewable energy financing. He is a postgraduate in mathematics and also holds an MBA (finance) and a degree in law.
