MPCB Sent Notice On Suspected Environmental Regulations To Mercedes-Benz
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has notified Mercedes-Benz of potential environmental violations at their Chakan plant near Pune. The notice follows a surprise inspection by MPCB Chairman Siddesh Kadam and others.
The notice cites non-compliance in areas such as the operation of clarifiers and centrifuge units in the sewage treatment plant and the absence of emission control devices for diesel engines.
The luxury carmaker company, in response, acknowledged receipt of the notice and stated that it will review and address the concerns, emphasising its commitment to cooperate with government authorities.
The Chakan facility, operational since 2009, spans 100 acres.
