M&M Financial Appoints Former LIC Chief V.K. Sharma as Independent Director

The Board of Directors of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited has approved the appointment of Vijay Kumar Sharma as an Additional Director (Independent and Non-Executive) for a term of 5 years, effective May 15, 2024, subject to the approval of the members.

Vijay Kumar Sharma joined the Life Insurance Corporation of India as a direct recruit officer in 1981 and has since ascended through various leadership positions within the corporation. During his tenure at LIC, Sharma undertook diverse and challenging assignments across India, spanning all operational streams. He retired as the Chairman of LIC after holding esteemed positions such as MD of LIC and MD and CEO of LIC Housing Finance.

Sharma previously served as a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director of Mahindra & Mahindra until December 2023. Presently, he holds the position of Independent Director on the Boards of distinguished companies such as Tata Steel, Reliance Power, NURECA, and Vidarbha Industries Power. He is a postgraduate (M.Sc.) from Patna University.
