M&M Designates T. N. Manoharan as Lead Independent Director

T.N. Manoharan, an Independent Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited Board, will assume the role of Lead Independent Director with effect from August 8, 2024. He will replace Vikram Singh Mehta, who will be completing his tenure on August 7, 2024.

The Board has also appointed Manoharan as Member and Chairman of the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committees of the Board.

Manoharan, a past President of ICAI, was awarded “Padma Shri” in 2010. He currently serves as the Non-Executive Chairman on the Board of IDBI Bank and as an Independent Director on the Board of Tech Mahindra.

Presently, he chairs the National Committee on Accounting Standards and Taxation of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is a member of the Appellate Authority and part of the working group established by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to provide recommendations on “IFRS for SMEs.” Since September 2016, he has been a member of the Governing Council for Skill Development in the BFSI Sector.

He served as the Chairman of the Accounting Research Foundation of ICAI and the National Committee on Accounting Standards of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He was a Board Member of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) and participated in committees formed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG), and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

Manoharan has also been honoured with the “Business Leadership Award” from NDTV Profit and the CNN IBN “Indian of the Year 2009.”
