MeitY Invites Comments On Promotion & Regulation Of Online Gaming Rules

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has opened a public consultation on the draft Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2025.

The draft rules outline the framework for recognition, categorisation, and registration of online games, as well as the promotion of online social games and e-sports. They define the powers and functions of the Online Gaming Authority of India, including suspension or cancellation of registration, penalties for non-compliance, and grievance redressal mechanisms. The draft rules have been prepared under Section 19 of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, providing procedural guidelines to implement the Act and operationalise the regulatory framework for online gaming in India.

The Ministry has requested feedback to be sent via email at ogrules.consultation@meity.gov.in by December 31, 2025, assuring that submissions will remain confidential.
