
Meera Shankar & K. Jairaj Retire As Independent Directors Of Adani Energy Solutions
Meera Shankar and K. Jairaj have retired as Independent Directors of Adani Energy Solutions Limited, effective June 30, 2025, upon completion of their terms.
Shankar is a former Indian diplomat who served in the Indian Foreign Service for 38 years, beginning in 1973. She worked in the Prime Minister’s Office from 1985 to 1991 on foreign policy and security matters and later served as Minister (Commerce) at the Indian Embassy in Washington. She led India’s cultural diplomacy as Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. With deep experience in South Asian affairs and multilateral diplomacy, she also headed divisions in the Ministry of External Affairs dealing with SAARC, Nepal, Bhutan, and the UN. She was India’s Ambassador to Germany (2005–2009) and the United States (2009–2011).
Jairaj, a 1976 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, has held key positions across infrastructure, energy, transport, and urban development sectors. He served as Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, and led institutions such as BESCOM, Bangalore International Airport Ltd, Karnataka Power Corporation, and KSRTC. He was the Commissioner of Bangalore City Corporation twice and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. He co-founded Bangalore International Airport Limited with N.R. Narayana Murthy. From 2004 to 2006, he was with the World Bank in Washington, D.C., as a senior public sector management specialist. He holds degrees from Bangalore University, Delhi School of Economics, Princeton, and Harvard. He has served as President of AIMA and is currently on the Board of Governors, IIM Kashipur.
