Matt Simister To Leave Tesco, Joins Petfood Firm Fressnapf As Group CEO

Tesco has announced that Central Europe Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Matt Simister will step down in August after a 30-year career with the company. Simister is set to join European pet food group Fressnapf as group CEO.

Over the years, Simister held several key roles, including UK Director for meat, fish & poultry and group Food Commercial Director. In 2017, he became Tesco’s CEO for Europe. He was also involved in the 2014 Tesco financial issue, but was later exonerated and reinstated. Tesco Group CEO Ken Murphy thanked Simister for his leadership and contributions across commercial operations, food sourcing, and food waste reduction.

A search for Simister’s successor is underway, and Tesco plans to provide further updates in due course.
