Marks & Spencer Appoints Former Asda Chief Roger Burnley As Director

Marks & Spencer (M&S) has appointed Roger Burnley, former Chief Executive of Asda, as a Non-Executive Director effective December 1, 2025. His appointment follows the exit of Justin King, former Sainsbury’s CEO, from the M&S Board last month.

Burnley, who led Asda from 2018 to 2021 and earlier served as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), also held senior roles at Sainsbury’s as Retail & Operations Director. He stepped down as Asda’s CEO in August 2021 after four years in the role and was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for his contributions to the food supply chain.
