Kotak Mahindra Bank Re-appoints Uday Shankar as Independent Director

The Board of Directors of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited has approved the reappointment of Uday Shankar as an Independent Director for a second term of three years, with effect from March 16, 2024. Subject to the approval of members of the bank.

Uday Shankar, 62, is an Executive and founder Director at Bodhi Tree Systems. Shankar has led the transformation of the media and entertainment landscape in India and the region over the last three decades. In 2022, Bodhi Tree entered into a strategic partnership with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Group through Viacom 18 to form one of the largest integrated TV and digital M&E companies in India. Earlier, he served as President of The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific and Chairman of Disney & Star India. He is also the first media executive to be the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is also on the boards of Business Standard Group of Newspapers, Apollo Health and Lifestyle Ltd., and The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd. He is also associated with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), while his social initiatives include Malaria No More (MNM) and the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy. He has been recognised by Forbes India as the “Best CEO (MNC)” and named “Entrepreneur of the Year (Entrepreneurial CEO)” by EY. He holds Master’s in Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) honours from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
