Kedar Lele Set To Resign As MD Of Castrol India; Saugata Basuray Appointed As Interim CEO

Kedar Lele will step down from his position of Managing Director (MD) of Castrol India Limited (CIL), effective December 31, 2025.

The company’s Board of Directors has appointed Saugata Basuray as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026, until a new MD is named.

Kedar Lele has over 25 years of experience across sales, marketing, and general management. Before joining Castrol, he spent two decades at Unilever, where he served as Executive Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited, leading Sales and Customer Development for South Asia. He also served as Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh. His career spans advertising, digital innovation, and customer development. He was recognised in the Economic Times “40 under 40” list in 2014 and holds an MBA in Strategic Marketing and Operations from ISB, along with a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Communications from MICA.

Saugata Basuray began his career with Castrol India in 1999 as a Management Trainee and has over 23 years of experience in sales, marketing, and business development. He has worked in four countries across two continents, including leadership roles in the UK and as President & Director of BP’s joint-venture lubricants operation in Indonesia. He has held diverse roles in sales, marketing, and business transformation, including serving as Executive Assistant to the MD of Castrol India. He holds an engineering degree from the University of Pune and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune.
