Justice A. V. Chandrashekar & Pradeep K. Panja Reappointed As Independent Directors Of Karnataka Bank

Justice A. V. Chandrashekar and Pradeep Kumar Panja have been reappointed as Non-Executive Independent Directors of Karnataka Bank, effective August 19, 2025.

Justice Chandrashekar is the former Judge of the High Court of Karnataka. He also held key positions such as Member Secretary of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Director of the Karnataka Judicial Academy, and Director of the Bangalore Mediation Centre. Appointed as a High Court Judge in 2013, he retired in 2016. Post-retirement, he conducted over 60 arbitration cases and chaired committees on child protection and urban planning. Since August 2020, he has served as a board member of the bank. He also served in various judicial capacities, including as Additional and Principal District & Sessions Judge across Karnataka. Justice Chandrashekar is a B.Com and LLB graduate.

Panja is a banker with 39 years of experience at the State Bank of India (SBI). He retired as Managing Director (Corporate Banking) in October 2015. He held leadership roles across corporate and international banking, treasury, IT, retail, and risk management and served as Country Head for SBI’s US operations. As CIO, he led SBI’s IT strategy, including the establishment of India’s largest data warehouse. He was also the MD of the State Bank of Travancore. He is a member of the key Board committees, and he chaired the Risk Management Committee. On Karnataka Bank’s Board since August 2020, he has served as part-time Chairman since November 2021 and was reappointed for a second term starting November 2024. Panja is a postgraduate in statistics from the University of Madras.
