Jürgen Westermeier Appointed As President & MD Of Airbus India & South Asia

Airbus has appointed Jürgen Westermeier as its next President and Managing Director (MD) for India and South Asia, effective September 1, 2025. He will take over from Remi Maillard, who moves to a global role as Executive Vice President (VP) of Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology.

Westermeier is the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) at Airbus, a role he has held since September 2020. He oversees procurement across all Airbus divisions, spearheading strategic partnerships, procurement processes, and regional procurement offices in India, the U.S., Singapore, and China. Prior to Airbus, he was President of BMW China Services Ltd. and a member of the BMW Group China Board, where he led supplier relations and purchasing strategy across Asia Pacific. He began his career with BMW in 1998, rising through key roles in information services, strategy, purchasing, and cost engineering, eventually becoming Senior Vice President (SVP), Purchasing and Supplier Network, Asia. Westermeier holds a degree in industrial engineering from the University of Karlsruhe.
