Ismo Antero Haka Succeeds Achim Michael Braun As Chairman Of Hitachi Energy
Ismo Antero Haka has been appointed as Chairman of Hitachi Energy Limited, effective August 20, 2025. He will continue to serve as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director alongside his new responsibility as Chairman.
Haka succeeds Achim Michael Braun, who resigned from his role as Chairman and Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director of the company with effect from August 20, 2025.
The Board has also approved the appointment of Jan Niklas Persson as an Additional Director in the capacity of Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director, subject to shareholder approval.
Haka is a finance professional with extensive leadership experience in the energy and power sectors. He earlier held the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Hitachi Energy. Before the transition to Hitachi Energy, Haka built a long career with ABB, where he held multiple senior financial leadership roles. These included the CFO of Power Grids, the CFO of the Power Products Division, the North America Regional and USA Country CFO, and the CFO of the Process Automation Division. He holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the Hanken School of Economics, Finland, and brings global expertise in financial strategy and operations.
Braun is a global human resources leader with extensive experience across diverse industries. He most recently served as the Head of Human Resources at Hitachi Energy, having joined its predecessor in 2018 as Senior Vice President (SVP) for Human Resources (HR). In this role, he was instrumental in shaping people strategies and supporting the company’s transformation journey. Prior to Hitachi Energy, Braun held multiple senior leadership positions at global organisations, including Continental, Schaeffler, and Lear Corporation, where he was Vice President (VP) for HR, Europe and Africa. With a career spanning decades, he has worked across geographies, driving HR strategy, talent development, and organisational growth. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Regensburg, Germany.
