
Independent Director Jose Joseph Kattoor Appointed As Part-Time Chairman Of South Indian Bank
Jose Joseph Kattoor has been appointed as Non-Executive Part-Time Chairman (Independent Director) of South Indian Bank Limited, with effect from March 23, 2026.
Further, Thomson Thomas has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director), w.e.f. March 23, 2026, replacing V.J. Kurian, who completed his term and retired effective March 22, 2026.
Kattoor is a former Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where he served from January 1991 to June 2023. During his tenure, he led departments including enforcement, corporate strategy, currency, and human resources. He currently serves as an Independent Director at Receivables Exchange of India Ltd. and Arohan Financial Services Ltd., and works as a consultant on regulatory matters with a law firm. He has been on the Board of the South Indian Bank since July 2024. He holds qualifications including a Bachelor of Science (BSc), a postgraduate diploma in rural management (PGDRM) from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), a Bachelor of Law (LLB), a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), and an Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Wharton.
Thomas has served as Statutory Central Auditor for three banks and led audits of corporate groups across India. He has worked on regulatory frameworks, including those of the RBI and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), along with company and tax laws. He has handled tax litigation matters for companies in Kerala. He is currently Principal Partner at Elias George & Co., based in Kochi. He is a Chartered Accountant with 39 years of experience in banking, finance, audit, taxation, risk management, and Corporate Governance.
