IIFL Finance Appoints Bijou Kurien & Nihar Jambusaria as Independent Directors
The Board of Directors of IIFL Finance Limited has approved the appointments of Bijou Kurien and Nihar Niranjan Jambusaria as Additional (Independent) Directors with effect from March 13, 2024.
Bijou Kurien has over 40 years of experience in building brands, businesses, and organisations. Kurien joined HUL as a Management Trainee. During his successful tenure of over six years, he served in various sales and marketing roles. Later, he moved to Titan, where he participated in the creation of India’s largest exclusive brand retail chains. He joined Reliance Industries as the President and CEO of Reliance Retail. Currently, he is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of Premji Invest. He is also serving as the Independent Director of several listed and unlisted companies. Additionally, he advises select consumer product companies and mentors a few start-ups. He has been associated with the India Retail Forum and the Retailers Association of India. In addition, he is the mentor for FICCI. He has an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur.
Nihar Niranjan Jambusaria is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Jambusaria has served as the President of the ICAI. Since 1984, he has been a senior partner at N. N. Jambusaria & Co. His consulting services extend to the Reliance Group and various renowned organisations in the private and public sectors. He specialises in Direct Tax, International Tax, M&A, FEMA, and Business Restructuring. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President at RIL. He has served as a member of the Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board (GASAB) and the Audit Advisory Board of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
IIFL Finance has also reported that Mauli Agarwal has transitioned into the role of Company Secretary and Compliance Officer with effect from March 13, 2024, from her previous position of Chief Compliance Officer. She replaced Rupal Jain, who quit to pursue higher studies.
The Board has also approved the appointment of Shivalingam A. Pillai as Chief Compliance Officer, with effect from March 13, 2024.
Furthermore, the Board has redesignated Abhiram Bhattacharjee, currently serving as Chief of Staff, as the Chief Operating Officer, with effect from March 13, 2024.
