IICSR to Organise International Net Zero Summit 2026; Board Stewardship Joins as Knowledge Partner

Board Stewardship has joined the International Net Zero Summit (INZS) 2026 as a Knowledge Partner, strengthening the Summit’s focus on governance-led climate action and boardroom accountability. Organised by the International Institute of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (IICSR Group), INZS 2026 will be held from 22nd to 24thJanuary 2026, in Goa under the theme, ‘Strengthening Governance and Boardroom Leadership for Net Zero.’

From a Board Stewardship perspective, the Summit reflects a growing recognition that Net Zero outcomes are no longer driven solely by policy intent or technological solutions, but by the quality of oversight, strategic integration, and decision-making exercised at the board level. INZS 2026 places governance, fiduciary responsibility, and leadership accountability at the centre of the Net Zero transition.

The Summit is being organised in collaboration with the Management and Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC), a Sector Skill Council under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, with the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) as Industry Partner. It will bring together policymakers, board members, senior executives, financiers, academics, and sustainability practitioners from India and global markets.

As Knowledge Partner, Board Stewardship will contribute to shaping discussions around board oversight of climate and transition risks, integration of Net Zero goals into enterprise strategy, director preparedness, and the shift from compliance-driven ESG disclosures to outcome-focused sustainability execution. The partnership underscores the view that credible climate action must be embedded within governance frameworks and stewarded by informed and accountable boards.

INZS 2026 will be inaugurated by Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, highlighting the role of policy and clean energy leadership in India’s transition. The International Net Zero Awards 2026, to be presented by Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, will recognise organisations and leaders demonstrating measurable progress in sustainability and Net Zero implementation.

The Summit’s knowledge ecosystem is supported by collaborations with Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, the Amsterdam Institute of Sustainability, and the University of Amsterdam, alongside Board Stewardship, integrating academic depth with governance and leadership perspectives.

Through leadership-focused panels, practitioner sessions, and platforms such as the Net Zero Compendium 2026, Net Zero Academic Colloquium, and Certified Net Zero Strategist Workshop, INZS 2026 aims to reinforce a clear message: sustainable Net Zero progress begins in the boardroom and is sustained through informed, responsible, and knowledge-driven stewardship.
