IDFC First Bank’s Director Jaimini Bhagwati Has Resigned

Dr. Jaimini Bhagwati has tendered his resignation as Non-Executive Non-Independent Director of IDFC First Bank Limited with effect from September 9, 2024.

Bhagwati’s understanding is that the reverse merger of IDFC Limited with the Bank is on the verge of completion. He has resigned from the Board of the bank.

Dr. Jaimini Bhagwati, aged 70, has previously served as India’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg. He has held senior positions within the Indian government. At the World Bank, he was an expert in international bond and derivatives markets and later served as the RBI Chair Professor at ICRIER. Currently, he is a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), a prominent think tank in Delhi. He holds a PhD in Finance from Tufts University, USA, a Master’s in Physics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and a Master’s in Finance from MIT, USA. In August 2019, Penguin published his book “The Promise of India: How Prime Ministers Nehru to Modi Shaped the Nation.”
