Hyundai Motor India Appoints Tarun Garg As CEO & MD; Unsoo Kim To Return To South Korea
Hyundai Motor India Limited has appointed Tarun Garg as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD), effective from January 1, 2026, subject to shareholders’ approval.
The current MD, Unsoo Kim, will step down on December 31, 2025, to return to South Korea, where he will take up a strategic role at Hyundai Motor Co.
Garg is currently serving as Whole-Time Director at Hyundai Motor India. Before joining Hyundai, he had a long tenure with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., where he progressed from Management Trainee to Executive Director of Marketing, Logistics, Parts, and Accessories. At Hyundai, he has driven initiatives in sales strategy, digital marketing, rural expansion, and premium channel development. Garg is credited with introducing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in nine models and strengthening profitability through improved sales quality and operational efficiency.
Kim has over 30 years of experience with Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea, which he joined in 1991. His career spans multiple global markets, with expertise in business planning, strategy, and operations. Before leading Hyundai Motor India, he served as Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Hyundai Motor Company. Kim has previously spent four years with Hyundai Motor India, including his tenure as Executive Director of the Corporate Planning Division from 2014 to 2015. His extensive experience has contributed to Hyundai’s strategic growth and global operational excellence.
