Greg Foran Set To Take Over As CEO Of Kroger

Kroger is planning to appoint Greg Foran as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The company has been searching for a permanent CEO after Rodney McMullen was removed last year following a Board investigation into his personal conduct, which was found to be inconsistent with certain company policies.

Foran was the CEO of Air New Zealand from February 2020 to October 2025. During his tenure, the airline faced disruptions linked to aircraft availability and supply chain constraints. Prior to that role, he served as President and CEO of Walmart’s U.S. operations, where the business reported 20 consecutive quarters of comparable sales growth. He began his career as a shelf stacker at a supermarket in Hamilton. At the age of 20, he became a Manager at Woolworths. By the age of 48, he was considered a contender for the role of CEO of Woolworths Australia, but did not secure the position.
