Google Pulls Support from Over 50 DEI Groups Amid Policy Shift
Google has removed 214 organisations from its public list of funding recipients, including 58 linked to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), according to a report by the Tech Transparency Project (TTP).
The report analysed the latest list of groups funded by Google’s US Government Affairs and Public Policy team. DEI-related organisations, identified through mission statements referencing race, activism, or inclusion, formed the largest group dropped. Google said the list reflects contributions from 2024 and not the company’s total funding. The changes come amid broader cost-cutting and increased AI investments. The shift also follows new US federal directives limiting DEI practices.
Google said it continues to support a broad range of organisations advocating pro-innovation policies across the political spectrum.
