General Motors & Stellantis Face Lawsuits By EEOC For Discrimination & Harassment
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed lawsuits against General Motors (GM) and Stellantis, accusing them of discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
GM and the United Auto Workers (UAW) are accused of reducing benefits for older employees receiving Social Security, violating the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. The policy, in place since 2019, affects employees 66 and older at GM facilities. Stellantis’ FCA US unit faces accusations of tolerating sexual harassment of female employees at a Detroit assembly plant since 2020, with the company allegedly failing to address complaints. The lawsuits seek compensation for affected workers, including benefits owed to older employees and damages for female workers, as well as permanent injunctions to prevent further misconduct.
