
Gary Wingrove To Succeed Bill Thomas As Global Chairman & CEO Of KPMG From October 2026
KPMG International has appointed Gary Wingrove as its next Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will begin a four-year term on October 1, 2026, succeeding Bill Thomas.
Wingrove serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of KPMG International, where he oversees global operations and execution of the firm’s strategy across more than 140 countries. He works on operational integration, investment programmes, and expansion of the KPMG Delivery Network, along with digital and AI initiatives. He has over two decades of leadership experience and earlier served as CEO of KPMG Australia from 2013 to 2021, where he led business operations and engagement with regulators and stakeholders. He joined KPMG Australia as a partner in 2000 and has worked in valuations, corporate finance, and advisory services. He is a chartered accountant and has been associated with industry and not-for-profit Boards.
Thomas serves as Chairman & CEO of KPMG International, overseeing operations across more than 140 countries. He has held senior leadership roles within the firm, including chairman of the Americas region and chief executive officer of KPMG Canada. He has worked on strategy execution across regional and global operations and has been involved in organisational changes and cross-border functions. His experience includes engagement with clients, regulators, and stakeholders. He has been associated with organisations such as the International Integrated Reporting Council and the Business Roundtable. He has also been recognised for his work in organisational leadership and participation in industry forums.
