Fortune 500 CFOs Increasingly Take On Dual C-Suite Roles

Fortune 500 CFOs are expanding their responsibilities by taking on additional C-suite roles as companies adapt to changing business needs.

A Deloitte study analysing Fortune 500 companies from 2018 to 2023 found that leadership teams grew by 23%, reflecting both new executive roles and expanded responsibilities. CFOs are increasingly assuming dual roles such as CFO-COO or CFO-President, seen at companies like PayPal and Salesforce. The skills required for CFOs have also increased, with business strategy, data analysis, and regulatory compliance becoming more prominent.

Deloitte’s research highlights a shift in corporate leadership structures driven by digital transformation, regulatory changes, and business complexity.
