Fernando Fernandez Appointed CFO of Unilever
Fernando Fernandez, President of Unilever’s Beauty and Wellbeing, has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Unilever with effect from January 1, 2024. He replaced Graeme Pitkethly, who had announced his retirement early this year.
Unilever has announced several other changes in its leadership team. Hanneke Faber, the President of Nutrition, is leaving the company for a new opportunity, and her replacement will be announced later. Matt Close, who has been the President of Ice Cream for 31 years, will be leaving Unilever at the end of 2023. Peter Kulve, currently the President of Home Care, will take over as the new head of Ice Cream. Eduardo Campanella, the Chief Marketing Officer for Home Care, will now lead the Home Care division. Esi Eggleston Bracey, who has been overseeing Personal Care in North America and the US, will step into the new role of Chief Growth and Marketing Officer.
Fernando Fernander, an economist from Argentina’s University of Buenos Aires, joined Unilever in 1988. He is experienced in Strategy and Marketing, having led the Hair Care category in different geographies, such as Latin America and Europe, among others. In April 2022, Fernando became the President of Beauty & Wellbeing, overseeing a business with a Euro 12 billion in revenue, including four main segments: Hair Care, Skin Care, Prestige Beauty, and Health and Wellbeing. Since 2008, he has managed Unilever’s operations in the Philippines, Brazil, and Latin America. As the Executive Vice President for Latin America, Fernando oversaw 23 national operations, 12 product categories, and a complex manufacturing and distribution network.
