FCC Investigates Disney & ABC Over DEI Policies
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched an investigation into Disney and its subsidiary ABC regarding their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
FCC Chair Brendan Carr announced the probe in a letter to Disney CEO Bob Iger, stating the agency aims to determine whether the company’s DEI initiatives violate equal employment opportunity regulations. The investigation follows broader efforts by the Trump administration to curb DEI programmes in private companies. Carr has also indicated that media companies with DEI policies could face regulatory hurdles in mergers and acquisitions.
Disney stated that it is reviewing the FCC’s letter and will cooperate with the commission. The FCC has also initiated a separate investigation into Comcast’s DEI practices.
