Dr. V.S. Parthasarathy & Mahalingam G. Reappointed As Independent Directors Of LIC

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has reappointed Dr. V.S. Parthasarathy and Gurumoorthy Mahalingam (Mahalingam G.) as Independent Directors for a six-month term commencing January 29, 2026.

The announcement was made on the same day that the terms of three other Independent Directors concluded.

Dr. Parthasarathy has previously served as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Mahindra Group and President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He serves as an Independent Director on multiple Boards, including NIIT Learning Systems, Pennar Industries, Everenviro Resource Management, Greencell Mobility, and SEWA, and is involved in social work with SEWA. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and also qualified from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. His expertise includes organisational transformation, leadership, strategic planning, finance, and international operations. Dr. Parthasarathy holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Gujarat University, completed the advanced management programme at Harvard Business School, and earned a doctorate in management studies from the University of Mumbai.

Mahalingam has extensive experience in the financial and securities sector, having served as Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and as a Whole-Time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He currently serves as an Independent Director on several corporate Boards, including City Union Bank, India International Bullion Exchange IFSC Ltd., CARE Ratings, Central Depository Services, DSP Pension Fund Managers, and Care Ratings Nepal. His expertise covers financial regulation, capital markets, banking, and Corporate Governance. Mahalingam holds a master’s degree in science (statistics) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, and an MBA in international banking and finance from the University of Birmingham.
