Disney Removes DEI Terminology From Annual Report Amid Federal Probe
The Walt Disney Company has dropped all references to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from its 2025 Form 10-K, marking the first such omission in at least five years. The filing, submitted on November 14, 2025, contains no use of “diversity,” “inclusion,” or “DEI,” with “equity” appearing only in financial contexts.
The shift comes as the Federal Communications Commission investigates whether Disney’s past DEI practices at ABC and related units complied with equal employment rules. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr ordered the probe in March, citing concerns that earlier initiatives, including identity-based hiring programs and inclusion standards, may have conflicted with federal regulations. In the new filing, Disney outlines broad human capital goals, training programs, and volunteer efforts without DEI branding. The company’s move follows similar corporate rollbacks across several sectors. Disney has said it is reviewing the FCC’s letter and will respond to commission queries.
