DGCA Warns Airlines On Delay In Implementing Regulations

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has warned airline operators that delays in following its rules can create risks related to flight operations and passenger travel.

In a circular sent to all stakeholders, the regulator stated that it has observed gaps in the preparation for implementing its directions. The DGCA issues rules through Civil Aviation Requirements, Aeronautical Information Circulars, and other notices, and compliance is compulsory for operators. The regulator said preparation before the start date of any rule is required to avoid disruptions and risks. It directed stakeholders to plan implementation by assessing their resources and identifying any additional needs. Airlines and other entities were told to ensure resources are available and working before enforcement. The circular also asked for trials or practice runs before the rules take effect, where needed.

The DGCA has sought submission of implementation plans and results of trials before enforcement and has asked stakeholders to monitor compliance for six months and submit reports at intervals.
