DGCA Receives ICAO Council President Certificate For Aviation Safety Oversight

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was awarded the ICAO Council President Certificate at the opening of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Assembly in Montreal.

The award, part of ICAO’s “No Country Left Behind” initiative, was presented to DGCA Director General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai in recognition of India’s progress in aviation safety oversight. The recognition follows reforms by the DGCA after India’s 2017 Effective Implementation score of 55.15%, including strengthened regulations, inspector training, and enhanced accident investigation systems. By November 2022, India’s EI score rose to 85.65%, surpassing some major aviation markets. ICAO highlighted the improvements as objective and measurable, reflecting India’s alignment with international safety standards.
