Dave Davis To Lead Spirit Airlines As CEO After Failed Mergers & Restructuring
Spirit Airlines has named Dave Davis as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 21, 2025, following its recent emergence from bankruptcy. He succeeds Ted Christie, who stepped down earlier this month as part of a leadership transition.
Davis, previously Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Sun Country Airlines, will lead Spirit’s efforts to reshape its business and strategy. He has prior experience as CFO of Northwest Airlines before its merger with Delta Air Lines. Spirit had temporarily assigned leadership duties to a group of senior executives after Christie’s departure. The airline had filed for bankruptcy in November due to sustained losses and high debt. Merger attempts with Frontier Group and JetBlue Airways failed, with Spirit opting instead for an independent restructuring strategy to stabilise operations.
