Cyril Shroff and Dr. Thomas Connelly Jr. Independent Directors of Grasim Industries’ have retired

Cyril Suresh Shroff and Dr. Thomas Martin Connelly Jr., ceased to be Independent Directors of Grasim Industries Limited with effect from August 22, 2024, on completion of their second term of five years.

Cyril Shroff with 39 years of experience, is frequently recognised as a “star practitioner” in India by Chambers Global. Known as the “M&A King of India,” Shroff chairs FICCI’s Corporate Laws Committee and is a member of several significant councils and committees, including the CII National Council and Financial Markets Committee, the IMC International ADR Centre’s first apex advisory committee, and the Society of Insolvency Practitioners of India’s Task Force. He also served on SEBI’s Uday Kotak Committee on Corporate Governance and the SEBI Committee on Insider Trading. In 2021, Chambers Asia Pacific named him a ‘Star Individual’ for Corporate/M&A and an ‘Eminent Practitioner’ for Private Equity, Restructuring & Insolvency, and Banking & Finance in India, while Asian Legal Business recognised him as the ‘Dealmaker of the Year 2020.’ He earned a law degree from Government Law College, Mumbai.

Dr. Thomas M. Connelly Jr. has 35 years of experience and he currently serves as the Executive Director and CEO of the American Chemical Society. Before joining ACS, he was Chief Science and Technology Officer, and later Chief Innovation Officer at DuPont. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and has chaired studies for the academies’ Division of Earth and Life Studies.He has also held advisory roles for the U.S. Government and the Republic of Singapore. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics from Princeton University, as well as a doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
