CSR Investments In Sports Paying Off

India’s incredible achievement of winning 107 medals at the Asian Games was supported by some of the big companies like Reliance Industries, Tata Group, JSW Group, and Adani Group. As a part of their CSR initiatives, these companies supported athletes with sponsorships, scholarships, and training. Reliance Foundation and JSW Sports, for instance, backed athletes who won 12 and 17 medals, respectively. JSW Sports also saw remarkable performances by athletes like Neeraj Chopra, Avinash Sable, and Parul Chaudhary.

India came in fourth on the medal list at the Hangzhou event.

Reliance supports over 200 athletes in 10 disciplines with scholarships and training. JSW Sports supports 4,000 athletes in various sports disciplines. Adani Sportsline supports wrestler Deepak Punia, among others, and Tata Trusts help junior athletes find their way to sports excellence. Tata Steel also supports promising talent, with two cadets winning bronze in archery. Corporate support for sports has grown over the years, although government support remains significant. In FY22, CSR funding for sports reached ₹242 crore, showing a continued commitment to nurturing sporting talent in India.
