Yum! Brands, Inc. has confirmed that Chris Turner will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective October 1, 2025, while also joining the company’s Board of Directors.

Turner was announced as CEO-designate on June 13, 2025, and will succeed David Gibbs, who is retiring after 36 years with the company. Gibbs will step down from the Board effective October 1, 2025, but will continue as an executive advisor through 2026 to support the transition.

Turner, who has been with Yum! He joined Yum! from PepsiCo, where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager (SVP & GM) for its Walmart business across the U.S. and 25 international markets. Earlier, he served as SVP of Transformation for Frito-Lay North America and SVP of Strategy, focusing on growth, category expansion, and M&A. Turner spent over 13 years at McKinsey & Company as a Partner, advising clients in retail, restaurants, consumer goods, and more. He also serves on the Board of Academy Sports and Outdoors. Turner holds an MBA from Stanford and a bachelor’s in industrial engineering from the University of Arkansas.

Gibbs has been CEO of Yum! Brands since January 1, 2020, and has served on its Board of Directors since November 2019. Previously, he served as President and COO, overseeing KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell worldwide, and earlier as President and CFO, where he shaped Yum!’s refranchising and capital-light model. Gibbs also played a central role in the 2016 spinoff of Yum China. He has served as CEO of the Pizza Hut Division and CFO of Yum! Restaurants International. Gibbs also serves on the Board of Under Armour. He holds an MBA from Duke University and a BS from Johns Hopkins University.
