Centre To Restructure Top CPSE Boards Within Six Months

The government will restructure the Boards of major Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) such as BHEL, NTPC, BPCL, HPCL, IOC, ONGC, and SAIL within six months to enhance Board autonomy.

As per a finance ministry communication, each Board will be required to induct at least four part-time non-official Directors to ensure they make up at least one-third of the Board’s total strength. A search committee, including the PSEB Chairman, secretaries from DPE and the concerned ministry, and an industry-nominated expert, will select these part-time Directors. Existing procedures will remain for appointing full-time and government-nominated Directors. The Department of Public Enterprises issued the guidelines on Tuesday. Similar Board restructuring was already approved for THDC India and NEEPCO last week.
