Centre To Intervene In Tata Trusts Amid Tata Sons Listing Deadline
The Centre is preparing to hold meetings with top Tata officials to contain divisions within Tata Trusts that could affect Tata Sons’ operations, according to The Economic Times. Two senior Cabinet ministers are expected to meet Noel Tata, Venu Srinivasan, N. Chandrasekaran, and Darius Khambata in New Delhi.
The discussions will focus on resolving trustee disagreements, ensuring smooth functioning at Tata Sons, and charting the path for its mandatory public listing under RBI rules. The unrest reportedly escalated after the removal of former Defence Secretary Vijay Singh as a Tata Sons nominee director and the proposal to induct trustee Mehli Mistry. Concerns have risen over trustees demanding prior approvals for key Board decisions and questioning Independent Director appointments. The intervention aims to prevent disruptions and address governance concerns ahead of the listing.
