Captain Basil Kwauk to Succeed Klaus Goersch as Air India COO
Air India has appointed Captain Basil Kwauk as its Chief Operations Officer (COO), effective January 2025. The current COO, Captain Klaus Goersch, will step down in December to take a senior role in the United States.
Air India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson acknowledged Goersch’s contributions during the airline’s merger process and expressed optimism about Kwauk’s leadership as Air India continues its transformation.
Kwauk, with 25 years of aviation experience at Singapore Airlines and Vistara, is a pilot and mechanical engineer experienced in flying Airbus A319s and Boeing 787s. He has earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree from the National University of Singapore.
