Boeing’s Chief Aerospace Safety Officer Mike Delaney To Retire

Boeing’s Chief Aerospace Safety Officer, Mike Delaney, will retire later this year after nearly four decades with the company, according to an internal memo.

Company’s Chief Kelly Ortberg informed employees that Boeing will appoint a successor in the coming weeks.

Delaney, who took on the role in 2021, played a key role in strengthening the company’s safety practices. His contributions included advancing global aviation safety and supporting the industry’s recovery during the pandemic. Boeing has faced increased scrutiny after recent safety incidents, including a door panel detachment on an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9. The Federal Aviation Administration has maintained stricter oversight following the incident. The Air Current first reported Delaney’s retirement.
