B&M Interim CFO Helen Cowing Steps Down Within Five Months; Peter Waterhouse Appointed

Helen Cowing has stepped down as interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of B&M in less than five months after her appointment, with the company appointing Peter Waterhouse as a replacement on an interim basis.

Cowing serves as Director at William Grant & Sons Group Ltd., Quality Spirits International Ltd., William Grant & Sons Brands Ltd., and Aurora Care & Education Holdings Ltd., positions she has held since 2018. She held the role of CFO and Director at B&M European Value Retail SA starting in 2025. Her previous roles include Director at Selecta Management AG and Group CFO positions at FatFace Group Ltd., ISG Ltd., Selecta Group, and Mobico Group Plc between 2024 and 2025. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the International Institute for Management Development.

Waterhouse has been a Member of the Executive Committee at B&M since April 2024, serving as Finance Director. He previously held the role of Group Financial Controller from 2020 and has been part of the company’s finance team since joining in 2013. He trained and qualified with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he received internal awards during his training period. He has also worked at Johnson Service Group and LogicaCMG. Waterhouse is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He holds three degrees in mathematics, including a PhD completed in 2008 at the University of Manchester, where he also published academic research.
