Billionaire Daniel Kretinsky Appointed As Chairman Of Royal Mail
Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky will become the new Chairman of Royal Mail, according to his investment firm EP Group. Earlier this month, EP Group completed a 3.57 billion pound (USD 4.90 billion) acquisition of Royal Mail’s parent company, International Distribution Services (IDS).
Kretinsky is the Owner and Chief Executive of Energeticky a prumyslovy holding (EPH), the largest energy group in Central Europe. EPH employs over 25,000 people and operates across electricity distribution, supply, gas storage, and transmission. Known for his bold investment strategy, he gained attention during the 2020 market downturn by making significant investments in companies such as Macy’s, Foot Locker, Sainsbury, and Royal Mail. Beyond energy and retail, he holds stakes in the French newspaper Le Monde and German retailer Metro AG, expanding his presence across media and commerce in Europe.
