Bandhan Bank’s MD & CEO, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh is set to Retire in July
Bandhan Bank Limited has announced that its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, is set to retire on July 9, 2024, when his tenure concludes.
The founder of Bandhan Bank, Ghosh, has played a leading role in promoting financial inclusion in India, and he has over three decades of experience in microfinance and development.
The Board of Bandhan Bank approved Ghosh’s reappointment as MD and CEO for three years on November 24, 2023.
Chandra Shekhar Ghosh has been associated with the bank for nearly ten years. He is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at India’s Best Bank Awards 2023 by Financial Express, Banker of the Year’ for 2018-19 by Business Standard, CNN-IBN ‘Indian of the Year’ in 2016 in the Business category, Entrepreneur with Social Impact’ 2014 by Forbes India Leadership Awards, Entrepreneur of the Year’ 2014 by The Economic Times, and the Senior Ashoka Fellow for Social Entrepreneurship award in 2007 by Ashoka Foundation.
He is the former Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Eastern Region, and the former President of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I). He is engaged with several other industry bodies, such as the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), CII, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, the Government of West Bengal, the College Advisory Committee (CAC) in the College of Agriculture Banking (CAB), Pune, the All India Management Association (AIMA), and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
He holds a master’s degree in statistics and has participated in the HBS-ACCION Programme on Strategic Leadership at Harvard Business School.
