ASCI Launches Advertising Laws Repository, Plans Study On Gen Alpha

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has announced new initiatives, including a repository of advertising laws and a study of Gen Alpha media habits, to strengthen responsible advertising in India.

The council will develop a comprehensive repository of advertising codes and laws in partnership with Khaitan & Co, serving as a reference for advertisers, agencies, and stakeholders. ASCI will also roll out the AdWise programme, targeting over a million school students to enhance media literacy and enable children to evaluate advertising messages. Additionally, ASCI will conduct ethnographic research on Gen Alpha, the first generation growing up fully immersed in digital technology, to guide responsible advertising frameworks.

The council plans to expand its presence in Bengaluru and Delhi and introduce a visual asset for members to signal commitment to responsible advertising. Leadership changes were formalised, with Sudhanshu Vats appointed Chairman, S. Subramanyeswar as Vice-Chairman, and Paritosh Joshi as Honorary Treasurer.
