
Arun Kumar Purwar, Sangeeta Singh & Sudha Ravi To Retire As Independent Directors Of Alkem Laboratories
Arun Kumar Purwar, Sangeeta Singh, and Sudha Ravi will retire as Independent Directors of Alkem Laboratories Limited, effective July 12, 2025, upon completion of their second term.
Purwar has served on the Board of Alkem Laboratories Limited since 2015. He is the Chairperson and Non-Executive Director at IIFL Finance Limited and holds key positions as Chairman or Independent Director in companies such as Jindal Panther Cement, Jindal Global Capability Centre, Alkem Medtech, and Eroute Technologies. He also advises Mizuho Securities, Japan. Purwar was Chairman of the State Bank of India from 2002 to 2006 and also chaired the Indian Banks’ Association. He played a role in establishing SBI Life and has contributed to setting up a healthcare-focused private equity fund and an NBFC for real estate and education. He has received multiple awards, including those from the Indian Banks’ Association and Bombay Management Association.
Singh has been a member of the Board of Alkem Laboratories since 2015. She serves as an Independent Director on the Boards of several companies, including Galaxy Surfactants, Crystal Crop Protection, Laxmi Organic Industries, and Shaily Engineering Plastics. With over 35 years of experience in human resources, communications, and operations, she brings a deep understanding of organisational development and people strategy. She previously held the position of Partner and Head of Human Resources at KPMG India. Singh holds a master’s degree in behavioural psychology and has completed a certification in strategic human resource management from Harvard Business School.
Ravi joined the Board of Alkem Laboratories Limited in 2015 and is a management consultant with over 40 years of experience across banking and non-banking sectors in India and the USA. During her three-decade tenure at the State Bank of India, she held key roles including General Manager, Enterprise Risk Management, and Chief Representative in Washington, DC. Later, she joined the Ajay Piramal Group, where she helped establish Piramal Finance Ltd and served in leadership roles across its financial services businesses, including as CEO, ED, and CCO. She also led India Venture Advisors, a healthcare-focused private equity fund. Ravi has served on several industry committees and continues to hold Board positions across sectors, including finance, healthcare, real estate, and pharmaceuticals.
